‘Desperate for attention’, ‘Bitter’ – Many Bears blast ‘anti-Rangers’ pundit after claim on BBC
Rangers fans have hit out at BBC Sportscene pundit Michael Stewart for his reaction to the Gers’ 5-1 hammering of Motherwell on Sunday.
Steven Gerrard’s side got back to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership in resounding fashion at Fir Park but the match was not without it’s controversies as two of Rangers’ goals came via the penalty spot.
Speaking on BBC Sportscene on Sunday, Stewart claimed that neither penalties should have been awarded even though the ball clearly struck to hands of Motherwell players.
As quoted by the Scottish Sun, Stewart called the handball law “nonsense” and brandished the decision to award the second penalty as “crazy”.
Stewart’s claims have led to a torrent of Rangers fans blasting him for his bias against the Ibrox club with many pointing out that the former Hibs and Hearts midfielder is now a pundit for Celtic TV.
Here is a selection of their tweets:

We can understand why fans are hitting out at Stewart because he always seems to have a bad word to say about Rangers – no matter what.
But this next Bear puts it best and it’s something that a lot of Gers fans should probably take into account.
Stewart knows that every time he opens his mouth about Rangers, it’s going to provoke a reaction from the Glasgow club’s fans.
Even though you might not agree with his opinions, in that regard, he’s good at his job.
He gets views, he generates clicks and he sparks debate.
There’s no surprise he was trending on Twitter on Monday when he knows how to trigger so many supporters of one of the biggest clubs in the world.
In other Rangers news, Alex McLeish believes this Gers-linked player is “like Andros Townsend”.
