Confirmed – Rangers agree exclusive off-field deal with Kris Boyd
Rangers have struck an exclusive deal with an events company run by former Ibrox heroes Kris Boyd and Arthur Numan.
The club announced the news via their official Twitter account on Friday.
The two ex-Gers act as directors of a company called 5 Stars Limited, and have reached an agreement with the club that will give fans the opportunity to meet fellow legends at exclusive Rangers-affiliated events.
It is understood that a range of gin will also be launched in association with the club, with Jorg Albertz, Lorenzo Amoruso and Ian Durrant also involved.
Brian Laudrup is excepted to sign up for various events and experiences in the near future.
As quoted by the Glasgow Times, Boyd said: “Arthur and I enjoyed success on the field during our time at Rangers.
“Since hanging up our boots, we have got together and formed a business, 5 Stars.
“We are delighted that in close collaboration with Rangers, we’ll be doing some exciting new things off the field, including events and the launch of a Legends Gin.
“The events will feature other Legends to create a range of official dinner and Q&A engagements that will allow fans to hear about our careers first-hand.”
What can we make of this?
From a fan’s point of view, this is good news, surely.
Aside from giving us supporters the chance to meet and chat to Rangers legends, it’s also great to see the club doing business with former players who know and love the club like we do.
You’ll struggle to find a more passionate or close-knit fanbase than the Ibrox faithful, and any opportunity to get a greater insight into what goes on behind the scenes at the club – especially if it concerns some of the more glorious periods in our history – is sure to lapped up.
Speaking of lapping things up, a range of gin seems like a choice right out of left field, but you never know, it could be a huge success with Bears everywhere.
That being said, we’re not sure how we’d feel about sipping from a bottle with Boydy’s mug grinning back at us.
