Ibrox View: Massive call with Gerrard to axe standout player – Predicted Rangers XI v Motherwell

Steven Gerrard has been left with a massive decision to make after Allan McGregor put in a brilliant display as Rangers thrashed Willem II on Thursday night.

He made two big saves in the first half and another at the start of the second half to ensure a very comfortable night in the Europa League for the Gers.

Gerrard said he was “superb” after the game.

However, we think Gerrard will revert back to Jon McLaughlin in the Premiership.

He didn’t have his best game last weekend as Rangers conceded their first goals in the league but he’s had a brilliant start to the season.

We think that’s the only change that Gerrard will make, despite the short recovery time ahead of Sunday’s clash.

The backline will stay the same and Connor Goldson, James Tavernier and Filip Helander were all fantastic against Willem. Borna Barisic was no slouch either and the defence has given Gerrard a real platform for success this season.

The midfield was almost faultless as well and, in attack, Ryan Kent put in one of his best performances for the club as speculation continued around his future, despite the club making it clear he’s going nowhere.

Alfredo Morelos couldn’t be faulted, either, and if he is unsettled, he’s certainly not showing it. He’ll hold onto the striker spot with Jermain Defoe on the bench and Kemar Roofe still out injured.

Rangers travel to Motherwell for the early kick-off on Sunday and after the draw with Hibs, can’t afford another slip.

These are the players Gerrard will task to ensure that doesn’t happen…

In other Rangers news, Ibrox View: BBC pundit rant surely shows that Rangers player needs to fix up or face axe.
