‘MOTM’, ‘Wow’, ‘World-class’ – Many Rangers fans blown away by player in 4-0 win v Willem II
Rangers fans were blown away by goalkeeper Allan McGregor for his performance in the 4-0 win against Willem II in the Netherlands on Thursday night.
The Light Blues made their way to the next round of the Europa League thanks to a solid display by McGregor, 38, in between the sticks.
In the first half, the former Hull goalkeeper produced a stunning save to preserve his clean sheet by stopping Driess Saddiki from scoring what looked like a certain goal for Willem II.
After that save was made, Rangers fans went into a frenzy on social media, with one saying that his stop to deny Saddiki was “world class”.
We cannot really argue too much with that and McGregor’s performance is bound to give Steven Gerrard some food for thought ahead of the clash with Motherwell this weekend.
Jon McLaughlin has appeared to replace McGregor as Gerrard’s first-choice goalkeeper this season with the ex-Hearts ‘keeper starting the last seven Scottish Premiership fixtures.
However, the two-times Scotland international conceded twice in the 2-2 draw with Hibernian at the weekend and McGregor’s display versus Willem II is only going to increase calls for him to return to the starting line-up in the league.
That’s based on how Rangers fans reacted to the 38-year-old’s display, anyway.

Speaking in August, as quoted by the Scottish Sun, Gerrard said that his goalkeepers will give him a selection headache that he wants to have.
While McGregor did well in the Europa League, we still expect McLaughlin to start again this weekend versus Motherwell.
In other Rangers news, the Gers have hit an impasse in talks to sign this £4million-rated ace.
