‘Farce’, ‘What a joke’, ‘Ridiculous’ – Many Rangers fans furious with update on Gerrard

Rangers fans are furious with the Scottish Football Association after Steven Gerrard was cited for his comments after the win versus Dundee United.

The Light Blues released a statement on Wednesday which confirmed that the SFA are looking into the manager’s remarks on Ryan Edwards’ challenge on Alfredo Morelos that left the Colombian striker with a gash on his leg.

After the 4-0 win at Ibrox, Gerrard refused to say that Edwards should’ve been sent off.

However, the Rangers boss did suggest that if it was Morelos who made the challenge, he would have seen red.

It wasn’t the wisest of comments by Gerrard and it did suggest that there was bias against his players from referees.

But that hasn’t stopped a lot of Rangers fans on Twitter from raging over the SFA’s citation, with one supporter claiming that is is a “made up load of garbage”.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Edwards should’ve been sent off and Morelos was lucky to escape getting a serious injury but that doesn’t excuse Gerrard’s comments from breaking the rules.

As indicated by Radio Clyde in the tweet below, Gerrard’s comment about Morelos indicated “biased or incompetence” among officials.

There is a lot of whataboutery among Scottish football fans and we cannot pretend that it doesn’t exist among Rangers fans.

Solely looking at this one citation, Gerrard doesn’t really have a leg to stand on.

But that doesn’t mean that he was wrong to speak his mind on a subject and nor does it mean we don’t think Edwards should’ve been sent off.

There are a lot of injusticies in Scottish football and the referee’s performance versus Dundee United was one of them.

But we don’t think Rangers will be able to overturn this appeal.

In other Rangers news, this forward is set to exit the Light Blues on loan.
