Athletic journo: PL club still ‘actively’ interested in key Rangers talent

Rangers winger Ryan Kent is still “actively interesting” to Leeds United, according to The Athletic journalist Phil Hay.

The Whites reportedly had a bid of around £10 million rejected for the wide man last month, with Steven Gerrard openly stating that it was “nowhere near” the valuation that the Gers have put on their star asset.

But while Marcelo Bielsa’s men have yet to follow up on that initial offer, it is understood that they do retain an interest in the Ibrox talent.

Rangers

Writing in a piece for The Athletic, Hay said: “Rangers winger Ryan Kent is still actively interesting them [Leeds] but a £10 million bid was rejected last month and is yet to be followed up.”

Kent has been an ever-present for Gerrard’s side this season, scoring four goals and assisting three more in his first eight Scottish Premiership games of the campaign.

Rangers

Should we be worried by this update on Kent?

Not overly, no.

The Gers held a resolute stance when Leeds came knocking the first time, and there’s no reason to believe that they would change their mind this time around.

As for the player himself, he is firing on cylinders right now, and according to The Scottish Sun, is keen to stay in Glasgow for the foreseeable future.

If he is content and the club are unwilling to sell, then there’s no reason at all to believe that he will be going anywhere before the transfer window shuts.

Factor in Leeds reportedly rekindling their interest in Manchester United winger Dan James, and this one should hopefully blow over with little fuss.
