‘Shocker’, ‘Get used to it’ – Many Leeds fans send warning to Rangers after Thursday update on Ibrox ace

Many Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to react to Rangers striker Kemar Roofe picking up an injury on Thursday evening.

The 27-year-old was forced off the field with a calf complaint during the first half of the Gers’ 5-0 Europa League demolition of Lincoln Red Imps.

At the time, Kris Boyd pointed out on Sky Sports News that there were no opponents near him when he went to ground, going as far as to suggest that the issue could be “bad news” for Steven Gerrard’s men.

Gerrard has since suggested that he is hopeful the striker hasn’t suffered a major setback, but Leeds supporters were quick to point out that the player is prone to this kind of recurrent niggle.

According to Transfermarkt, over the past two seasons Roofe has been injured for  approximately 265 days, suffering from both calf and ankle issues.

Last season alone he was limited to just 16 games for Anderlecht, starting and ending the season on the sidelines.

Belgian journalist Pieter-Jan Calcoen recently told Ibrox News that Roofe’s injury problems contributed to him being a “disappointment” on the continent, and it would be a massive shame if similar issues prevented him from reaching his full potential in Glasgow too.

The hitman has just begun to show us what he is capable of in a Rangers shirt, scoring twice in his last three league appearances.

While this particular injury doesn’t sound too severe, the big concern will be that a litany of small knocks prevent him from building up the momentum he needs to be the 20 goal-a-season predator that the Gers brought him in to be.
