‘Outstanding’ – Many Rangers fans heap praise on Ibrox talent after ‘masterclass’ v Lincoln
Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to lavish praise on full-back for his display against Lincoln Red Imps on Thursday evening.
The Croatia international provided the assist for Connor Goldson’s header in a 5-0 win over the semi-professional outfit from Gibraltar, with the Gers now progressing to the third qualifying round.
And supporters were absolutely delighted with what they saw from the left-back.
Lining up a free-kick just by the byline on the left-hand side of the box, the 27-year-old beautifully floated a delivery to the far stick with an unmarked Goldson rising highest to fire a bullet header home.
It was top quality stuff from Barisic, but at this stage, we don’t really expect anything else.
We’ve already seen his talent from set-pieces this season, with his stunning free-kick against St. Johnstone reminding everybody of just how much of a threat he can pose.
This might not have been as eye-catching as that effort, but still, it reiterates how much of a dream the defender must be to play alongside.
Thursday’s assist marked his fifth of the season already across all competitions, and he continuously seems to be finding new levels to his game.
So far this season, for instance, he has registered a crossing accuracy that is 12.7% higher than his career average, as per Wyscout.
Barisic also played a major part in the third goal too, delivering a ball for Greg Stewart to head back across goal for an Alfredo Morelos tap-in late in the day.
At the moment, the full-back feels like he is one of the Gers’ most threatening players week after week, and it’s pleasing to him get so much love and appreciation from the fanbase.
