Exclusive: Glasgow Live journo dismisses report linking Rangers ace Morelos to Leverkusen

Ibrox News recently conducted an exclusive interview with Glasgow Live journalist Chris Doyle to get his views on some of the biggest talking points involving Rangers right now…

Glasgow Live journalist Chris Doyle has cast doubt over speculation linking Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos with a move to Bayer Leverkusen.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the reliable reporter claimed that there was more likely to be substance to reports suggesting that the Colombian was a target for French club Lille.

Sky Sports reported in July that the 24-year-old had agreed to join the Ligue 1 side, although as yet, nothing concrete has come of that rumour.

More recently, Colombian outlet Don Balon has reported that Bayer Leverkusen are keen on the hitman, but Doyle has claimed that one of those reports is much more likely to be true than the other.

Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “There’s a lot [of reports], and it is hard to keep track of them all, to be honest.

“There was genuine interest from Lille. But it did seem as if they’d moved onto other targets, so I think it was a wait and see approach from them.

“I wouldn’t completely rule them out though. There’s clearly an interest.

“I don’t think there was much in the Leverkusen one. Most of the ones I’ve seen over the past 18 months or so, it’s seemed as if there hasn’t been much in them.”

Morelos has featured in five of the Gers’ seven Scottish premiership matches so far this term.

The South American was stretchered off in the 4-0 win over Dundee United on Saturday, however, after sustaining a gash to his knee.
