Exclusive – Belgian journo claims Kemar Roofe can score 20 goals for Rangers this season
Ibrox News recently conducted an exclusive interview with renowned Belgian journalist Pieter-Jan Calcoen to get his views on Rangers new boy Kemar Roofe. Calcoen reports on Anderlecht for Belgium’s biggest newspaper, HLN.
Belgian journalist Pieter-Jan Calcoen has claimed that Kemar Roofe is good enough to score 20 goals for Rangers this season.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the reliable reporter suggested that the 27-year-old struggled to make his mark during his spell with Anderlecht last year, but could benefit from playing in a more dominant team.
In a previous exclusive with Ibrox News, Calcoen admitted that “everybody” at Lotto Park has already forgotten the Gers striker following his summer move to Glasgow.
But he remains optimistic that the former Leeds United man can make more of a positive impact for Steven Gerrard’s side.
Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “I don’t want to be too negative. I didn’t like him at Anderlecht, but I think he can be a good striker for Rangers.
“Can he score 20 goals in a season? I think he can.
“If he stays fit, if he’s in a better team – because at Anderlecht he was in a poor team, you have to say. They didn’t create too many opportunities, he had to to run 50 metres to get his chances. I think Rangers will be more dominant than Anderlecht.
“If you can get him in the box, he’ll score his goals.”
Roofe struck seven goals in 16 outings across all competitions during his only season in Belgium.
He opened his Rangers account recently with a strike in the 2-0 win over Kilmarnock.
In other Rangers news, we bring you another exclusive, as Frank McAvennie claims Alfredo Morelos could upset the Ibrox dressing room if he stays.
