‘Unplayable’ – Many Rangers fans heap praise on Ryan Kent display v Hamilton
Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to heap praise on Ryan Kent for his performance in the 2-0 win over Hamilton on Saturday evening.
The Gers extended their unbeaten start to the Scottish Premiership season to six games and equalled a record that had stood since 1906 by keeping a sixth consecutive clean sheet at the beginning of a campaign.
Goals from Ianis Hagi and James Tavernier were enough to wrap up all three points, but it was Kent who got many supporters purring.
The ex-Liverpool man was in superlative form again against the Accies, and while he couldn’t add to the three goals that he had struck in the opening five games of the Premiership season, he still did enough for the BBC to award him man-of-the-match.
It’s not hard to see why either.
Kent completed 53 passes, his highest tally of the season to date, as per Wyscout.
He also managed 10 successful dribbles at a completion rate of 77%, 22.9% higher than his season average up to this point, while his crossing accuracy was 26.9% higher than usual.
More than anything though, Kent covered so much ground against Hamilton.
Playing in a slightly freer role, the 23-year-old was able to operate with less rigidity in a three alongside Brandon Barker and Ianis Hagi, and in response he seemed to pop up absolutely everywhere.
This is the player we thought we were signing when we forked out £7 million last summer.
There were times last term when Kent looked a little off-kilter and not at the peak of his powers.
But this term he has started with a bang, and he kept that impressive form going on Saturday.
When he is in this kind of form he is pretty much unplayable, and if he can keep it up, he will be a major asset in our title push.
