‘Only a matter of time’ – Andy Walker predicts imminent Rangers exit for Morelos
Andy Walker has claimed that it is “only a matter of time” before Alfredo Morelos leaves Rangers.
The Sky Sports pundit made his comments during a prediction of Saturday afternoon’s clash against Hamilton.
The Colombian is expected to be included in Steven Gerrard’s plans after being omitted from the side that faced Kilmarnock last week.
But speculation continues to mount of over his future at Ibrox, with the Glasgow Times reporting that the Gers are waiting to see whether Lille will make an improved offer for the hitman in the coming days.
And Walker believes that he will seal his exit sooner rather than later.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “Unlike Livingston, Hamilton are not the type of side to continually put 10 men behind the ball so I imagine there will be a bit more space for the Rangers players to express their quality on this plastic surface.
It seems as though it is only a matter of time before Alfredo Morelos gets what appears to be his wish to leave Rangers and the stage would then be clear for both Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten to make their mark.
“Roofe may be lacking in match sharpness but he got his debut goal last weekend in an impressive display against Kilmarnock.”
Walker predicts a 3-1 win for the Gers.
Is Walker right about Morelos?
It’s sad to say, but we’re inclined to agree with him on this one.
At this stage, after all the speculation we have heard, plus the arrival of Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten in recent weeks, it would be a major surprise if the South American was still a Rangers player come the end of the transfer window.
As well as Lille, we have seen him linked with AC Milan in recent weeks, and Frank McAvennie recently told Ibrox News that he expects the 24-year-old to try and force through an exit from the club in the near future.
If that is the case, then the chances of hanging onto him will drop even further, but after Roofe’s impressive outing on his full debut against Killie, perhaps it is time that we started facing up to the reality of a Rangers side without Morelos leading the line.
In other Rangers news, Bruce claims Rangers will want to ‘build team around’ this player.
