‘Interesting’ – Ibrox Exclusive: McAvennie claims Rangers could face ‘tricky’ Hamilton test

We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish international Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…

Frank McAvennie has claimed that Rangers could face a tricky task when they travel to face Hamilton on Saturday evening.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Celtic striker suggested that the Accies are capable of causing issues for any side in the division on their day.

The Hoops beat Hamilton 5-1 on the opening day of the season, but even taking that trouncing into account, McAvennie still believes that Brian Rice’s men can be a thorn in the side of the Gers.

Reflecting on a recent clash between the Accies and St. Mirren – a match that the Hamilton lost 1-0 – the ex-Scotland international said: “I think it will be tricky. Celtic beat them recently, but it’s always tough to go there.

“I was at the Hamilton game against St. Mirren. Second half, Hamilton produced something, to be honest. They’ve got something, and they can produce.

“It’ll be a test for Rangers, that will be for sure. It’s not as easy as people think.

“It’s one of them, they could come out and roll Hamilton right over and nobody would bat an eyelid, but it could go either way. You don’t know what you’re getting with Hamilton. I think they’ll give Rangers a game – it’ll be interesting.”

Hamilton upset Rangers with a 1-0 victory the last time that the two sides met back in March.

That result effectively ended the Gers’ hopes of catching Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race, and left them 13 points adrift of the Bhoys at the top of the table.

In other Rangers news, Bruce claims Rangers will want to ‘build team around’ this player.
