‘Disgraceful’ – Kris Boyd slams Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos over recent attitude issues

Kris Boyd has slammed Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos for his “disgraceful” attitude in recent weeks.

The Colombian was dropped from Steven Gerrard’s match day squad against Kilmarnock last week, with the boss claiming that the decision to omit him was an “easy” one.

Morelos is currently in the middle of a transfer saga involving French club Lille, with uncertainty over whether or not they will make a move for the player this summer.

And Boyd has admitted that the 24-year-old’s volatility during this spell of speculation is really beginning to wear on him.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Scottish Football podcast, he said: “It is one of those things that is really starting to annoy me now.

We have said for a number of months now that Alfredo Morelos, when he is playing well, he can be a handful. The other side of this is when he is not playing, he can be a hindrance.

“I think his attitude has been disgraceful the last few weeks and for me personally, top players when they get a move work harder, they show their qualities and that has not been the case with Morelos.

“I know the Lille saga keeps on rolling on, but it is going to have to be dealt with because the sooner Morelos is out the building, the better because he is going to be more of a hindrance now because his attitude over the last few weeks has been nothing short of appalling.”

What next for Morelos?

Prior to the Killie clash, Morelos had started every game for the Gers this season, even in spite of the mounting speculation surrounding him.

Last weekend was a real breakaway from the faith the Gerrard has put in him, however, and even though the manager insists that he is back in contention for Saturday’s clash against Hamilton, it’s hard to see how he can just waltz back into the starting XI.

Factor in Kemar Roofe’s goalscoring turn last weekend and it will surely have to be a spot on the bench for El Bufalo.

At this stage, it really does feel as if the writing on the wall for his Rangers career, and if Lille do decide to come back in with an improved bid, don’t be surprised to see him headed for the exit door in the near future.

In other Rangers news, Bruce claims Rangers will want to ‘build team around’ this player.
