Report – Kent tells Rangers he wants to stay amid ongoing Leeds interest

Ryan Kent has told Rangers that he would prefer to stay at the club amid ongoing interest from Leeds United, according to The Scottish Sun.

The wide man has emerged as a target for the Whites in recent days, with Steven Gerrard’s men rejecting a bid of around £10 million last week.

And a fresh report from the national outlet would seemingly suggest that the ex-Liverpool talent is quite content with his lot in Glasgow.

Leeds are said to be considering an improved offer of around £14 million for the player, which would be double the amount the Gers paid for him just 12 months ago.

It is understood that Kent sees his main priority this season as helping Rangers to prevent Celtic from winning a 10th consecutive league title, however.

What does this mean for Rangers?

It can only be good news, surely.

Kent has started the season at a canter, and with three goals in five outings so far this term, he has been a source of real danger for the Gers.

His overall game looks to be improving too.

As per WyScout, in his last three matches, Kent’s  overall pass accuracy has been 88%, he’s completed 100% of passes into the attacking third, 50% of his dribbles have been successful and so have 33.3% of his crosses.

Compared to last season, Kent’s pass accuracy was 87.7%, 80.6% into the attacking third were accurate while 61.1% of dribbles were successful.

His cross accuracy is higher as well.

In short, selling him now would deprive Rangers of one of their key weapons in this season’s title race, and given how high the stakes are this term, that would be a major, major blow.

To know that Kent himself is keen to stay is a real comfort.

In other Rangers news, Leon Balogun has started life in Glasgow brilliantly.
