‘We all know’ – Rangers Exclusive: Bruce accuses Sutton of stirring things up with Gerrard dig

We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…

Alex Bruce has accused Chris Sutton of stirring things up on purpose with his latest comments on Rangers manager Steven Gerrard.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender claimed that, contrary to Sutton’s recent comments, Gerrard has done a good job since arriving in Glasgow.

Sutton recently told BBC Radio 5 Live that claims the 40-year-old has made a successful start to life in Scotland “couldn’t be further from the truth”.

But Bruce has dismissed his comments, and suggested that his fellow pundit delights in playing the antagonist when it comes to discussing the Old Firm.

Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “I think he [Gerrard] has done a good job.

“He’s got a little bit of work to do in terms of catching up to Celtic, which will obviously be the main reason he’s gone up there. He wants to knock them off their perch, and if he does that it will be mission accomplished.

“I think he has done a good job, and I think we all know what kind of character Chris Sutton is.

“He likes to get the wooden spoon out and stir things up, especially when it’s involving Rangers and Celtic, and it looks like he’s even at it again.”

Gerrard is yet to win any silverware in Glasgow, and is bidding to stop the Hoops from winning a tenth consecutive league title.

The Gers got off to a winning start in the new league campaign on Saturday lunchtime with a 1-0 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

In other Rangers news, Alfredo Morelos has commented on reports claiming he has agreement with Lille.
