Barry Ferguson backs Joe Aribo to be ‘huge player’ for Rangers in 20/21
Barry Ferguson has claimed that Joe Aribo will be a “huge player” Rangers this season.
The Nigeria international has looked sharp in the Gers’ preseason campaign, scoring twice in his last two outings against Coventry City and Motherwell.
And going into his second season in Glasgow, ex-Ibrox midfielder Ferguson believes that he has what it takes to step up to the plate and help the Gers step a dreaded 10-in-a-row.
Writing in a column for the Daily Record, he said: “I was always positive at the start of new seasons, and maybe it’s the optimist in me, but I honestly believe Rangers can be crowned champions next May.
“It’s foolish to make any judgements in pre-season but I’ve liked what I’ve seen so far from them. They look sharp and I don’t buy the suggestion they don’t have the strength in depth.
“I think we will see guys like Joe Aribo really stepping up this term. He’s got all the tools and if he produces on a regular basis, he will be a huge player for Rangers in the coming months.
“There’s no doubt Gerrard will add a few more as well.”
Aribo definitely has it in his locker to be a game-changer for the Gers.
The 24-year-old registered nine goals and eight assists in his first season with the Gers, but there’s no reason to believe that he can’t significantly improve on those figures.
Steven Gerrard himself has called the midfielder’s recent form “stunning”, while Ibrox News pundit Alex Bruce has admitted he has been “really impressed” by him too.
If he can continue his hot streak into the new campaign he could help the Gers get off to a flyer, and has every chance of becoming a massive asset at Ibrox.
