Rangers hitman Alfredo Morelos denies any transfer agreement with Lille
Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has claimed that he has not struck a deal with French club Lille yet.
RMC Sport reporter Mohamed Bouhafsi reported on Sunday that the Colombian had already agreed personal terms with the Ligue 1 outfit, with negotiations underway between themselves and the Gers.
But Morelos has spoken out on the report, suggesting that it is somewhat wide of the mark.
As quoted by the Scottish Sun, he said: “There is a lot of speculation about my transfer to another team but there is nothing yet.
“We are waiting, playing matches here and if the opportunity arises then we will welcome it.
“There are clubs that have spoken but formally there is no agreement.
“If they make me choose between the European leagues, I like them all. Now I am waiting because there is nothing concrete. But if something was to happen we hope to have the opportunity in a more competitive league.”
What does this mean for Morelos’ future at Ibrox?
If we’re being entirely honest, this probably doesn’t mean that Morelos is staying.
Just because an agreement hasn’t been reached yet doesn’t mean that one won’t be reached in the future, and Morelos’ rhetoric seems to suggest that he is still fairly intent on forcing through a move to a league that he considers to be more competitive.
With Rangers already willing to accept a lower price for their star man, as per Football Insider, it feels as if all the pieces are there, it’s just a case of when they will fall into place.
If and when he does go, it will be a shame to see him leave, but at the same time, there is no merit in forcing him to stay if he has his heart set on an exit.
