Report – Rangers striker Morelos agrees personal terms with Lille

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has agreed personal terms with French club Lille, according to RMC Sport reporter Mohamed Bouhafsi.

The Colombian hitman has been linked with a potential exit from Ibrox for some time now, with Football Insider suggesting earlier this month that the Gers had resigned themselves to accepting a reduced price for the forward this summer.

And it would appear that a deal is nearing completion.

Morelos has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Ligue 1 outfit, although it is understood that no agreement has yet been reached between the two clubs.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Bouhafsi said: “Alfredo Morelos has agreed personal terms with Lille.

“The club is now negotiating with Rangers over a fee.”

What should we make of this?

This is the news that we have all been nervously waiting for for some time now.

More than any other rumour during his Rangers career so far, this one feels as if it could be the one that heralds Morelos’ departure.

An exit has been on the cards for some time, and the fact that the Gers were willing to drop their asking price this summer speaks volumes as to how they see the South American’s future at Ibrox.

Losing a striker of his calibre would be a blow, there’s no doubt about it, but if there is one silver lining to be taken from this report, it’s that the timing of Morelos’ exit would still give the Gers plenty of time to reinvest the fee in a new striker ahead of the new season.
