Livingston teammate claims bold Dykes haircut is not ‘come-and-get-me plea’ to Rangers
Livingston’s Martin Bartley has insisted that teammate Lyndon Dykes’ new blue haircut is not a “come-and-get-me plea” to Rangers.
The Gers have been linked with a potential swoop for the 24-year-old this summer, as per the Scottish Sun.
And speculation was stoked further after the hitman took to Instagram to post a photo of himself with newly-dyed bright blue hair.
But Bartley has denied that the bold look has anything to do with a potential move to Ibrox.
Speaking to the Scottish Sun, he said: “Lyndon has had some absolutely shocking looks — blue hair isn’t even the worst.
“He’ll just randomly say to his wife, Victoria, ‘Cut my hair’ and she is not a hairdresser. He’ll come in the next day — it’s unreal.
“There was a point last season when I said, ‘I’m messaging Victoria because enough’s enough!’. It was unacceptable. He had three haircuts in four days and the second one was horrific.
“I read about it being a ‘come-and-get-me plea’ to Rangers. He’s just bored, like the rest of us, and is too much of a livewire for his own good.”
What can we make of this?
If we’re being honest, we don’t think anybody truly believed that Dykes was on his way to Ibrox purely because he’d decided to dye his hair blue.
That being said, this is a rumour that just refuses to die down.
Repeatedly, we have heard from pundits such as Tam McManus and Alex Bruce that Dykes would be a good fit for the Gers, and while Cardiff City are also said to be keen on the hitman, Steven Gerrard’s men are very much part of the chasing pack.
Rangers have done a lot of their business nice and early this summer, but don’t be surprised to see this one rumble on for a while longer.
