Livingston boss Holt denies any approach for Rangers-linked hitman Dykes

Livingston boss Gary Holt has denied that the club have received any kind of interest in Rangers-linked striker Lyndon Dykes.

The 24-year-old has emerged as a target for the Gers in recent weeks after hitting 12 goals for his current employees this season, according to the Scottish Sun.

Dykes stirred up further speculation when he then posted a photo to his Instagram showing that he had dyed his hair bright blue.

But his manager has moved quickly to quell any rumours that a move to Ibrox is imminent.

As quoted by the Scottish Sun, he said: “There’s been nothing concrete for Lyndon, or any of our players for that matter.

“Nobody has been in touch.

“We’ll have to wait and see what happens but it’s been a case of people putting two and two together and getting five.”

Should we believe Holt on this one?
It can be difficult to decipher the true meanings behind a manager’s comments on a player’s future at this time of year, and while Holt is presenting a very straightforward point, this is really no different.
Just because the Livi boss is saying that his side have not received a concrete offer for Dykes, doesn’t mean that they won’t in the future – nor does it mean that Holt isn’t aware of any interest.
Of course, the Gers aren’t the only side said to be in for the hitman either.
According to the Daily Record, Cardiff City are also keen on the striker, and may have even showed a greater level of interest than Steven Gerrard’s men.
That would explain the blue hair either way, but at the very least, to suggest that talk of a transfer is a case of people putting “two and two together and getting five” seems a little dismissive from Holt.
Granted, he admits that things could change, but this feels like a manager trying to be evasive when he knows there is substance to the whispers surrounding his star asset.
