Ibrox Exclusive: Bruce claims £2m swoop Dykes would be ‘very good deal’ for Rangers

We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…

Alex Bruce has claimed that Rangers would be getting a “very good deal” by paying £2 million for Lyndon Dykes.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender heaped praise on the 24-year-old, and argued that he would be a positive acquisition for the Gers.

According to the print edition of the Mail on Sunday, as per the Scottish Sun, Dykes’ current employers will demand a £2 million fee for the player, with Steven Gerrard’s understood to be keen on snapping him up in the coming weeks.

And Bruce not only believes that they should stump up for him, but that Livingston could be convinced to part with their prized asset if their seven-figure valuation is met.

Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “I think a £2 million deal for him is a very good deal. I think he’s a good player.

“He’s a handful whenever I’ve played against him.

“£2 million would really benefit Livingston after everything that’s gone on with the Coronavirus and stuff. I think that would be a deal the would suit both parties.

“He’s done very well this year, and you would assume that he’s only going to get better if he plays with better players.”

Dykes has hit 12 goals in 33 outings for Livingston this term, as well as assisting a further 10.

Bruce isn’t the only pundit to have hailed the hitman in recent times either, with Mark Wilson labelling him a “breath of fresh air” and naming him as Livi’s standout performer over the course of the current Scottish Premiership campaign.
