Ibrox Exclusive: Bruce claims permanent Rangers deal for Kamberi could still happen
We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…
Alex Bruce has suggested that Rangers could be taking their time over committing to a permanent deal for loanee striker Florian Kamberi.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender suggested that the financial impact of the Coronavirus pandemic could potentially jeopardise any potential transfer, but did also argue that there is plenty of time for an agreement to be reached.
The Glaswegian wrapped up a deal for fellow loanee Ianis Hagi last month, but as yet have not made any moves to secure a deal with Hibernian for Kamberi.
The player himself raised doubts over the likelihood of him returning to his parent club after he described his switch to Ibrox as a “dream move” earlier this year.
But Bruce has insisted that the lack of movement at present does not mean that a deal won’t be struck in the future, as well as claiming that Kamberi’s comments do not necessarily mean that he won’t be able to return to Hibs.
Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “You don’t know the situation with the finances and that after what’s happened with the Coronavirus.
“Whether they’re looking elsewhere or just being patient with their deals – it could still happen. There’s plenty of time before the Scottish season starts up again so we’ll just have to watch this space.
“Listen, people can say the wrong thing now and again, and sometimes words can be twisted.
“The best thing he can do if he has to go back to Hibs is keep his head down, score a couple of goals, and I’m sure that will be forgotten about.”
Kamberi made nine appearances for the Gers after arriving in Glasgow on temporary stint in January.
He registered one goal and two assists in that time, starting just twice.
