‘Going to be a superstar’ – These Rangers fans react to Charlie Lindsay signing announcement
Rangers have confirmed the signing of Northern Ireland youth international Charlie Lindsay, and supporters are suitably excited by the announcement.
The 16-year-old is set to join up with the Gers’ youth academy from Glentoran after agreeing a full-time professional contract in Glasgow, subject to international clearance.
The club announced the news via their official Twitter on Friday afternoon.
A potential deal for Lindsay has been on the cards for some time now, with The Scottish Sun suggesting back in April that a switch would go ahead this summer.
Prior to that, Lindsay enjoyed an impressive trial spell with Rangers, putting in a series of standout performances in the Alkass International Cup back in February.
The teenager won Player of the Tournament, and even drew comparisons to Manchester United and England legend Wayne Rooney.
We at Ibrox News took a closer look at his performance in the competition earlier this year, and it’s safe to say that we were very much impressed with what we saw.
The starlet is a joy to watch, covering ground with speed, dribbling with purpose and danger, and showing a natural eye for goal that would be much more befitting of a player 10 years his senior.
His performances across that competition were fantastic, and while it may be a little while before we see him in the senior picture at Ibrox, he certainly boasts bucketloads of potential.
Landing him feels as if it could be a major coup, and if he turns out to be even half the player that Rooney was in his prime, we could have a serious asset on our hands in the very near future.
