Ibrox Exclusive: Alex Bruce claims reported Rangers target Dykes is a ‘real handful’
We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers
Alex Bruce has claimed that he would like to see Lyndon Dykes play alongside Alfredo Morelos at Rangers next season.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender praised the Livingston hitman for being a “handful”, and suggested that that he could form an effective partnership with the Colombian.
The Scottish Sun recently reported that the Gers have identified Dykes as a key target this summer as they look to rebuild their squad ahead of next season’s title race with bitter rivals Celtic.
And Bruce is very much in favour of Steven Gerrard’s men making a move for the 24-year-old.
Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “I don’t know if he’d be replacing Morelos, but it’d be nice if he went and played up front alongside him because they’re both a real handful.
“He’s a good player, he did very well up in Scotland this year. Obviously, if you move for those better players, you’re going to get better results.
“It’d be interesting to see if they do get him, but he is a very, very decent player, and he really shone this season.
“He really impressed me when I came up against him.”
Dykes has impressed for Livi this season, hitting 12 goals and 10 assists in 33 appearances for the Premiership outfit.
The report from the Scottish Sun also suggests that the Gers tried to make a move for the Australian-born striker back in January, but were thwarted when his current employers refused to agree to a loan deal in the closing stages of the transfer window.
In other Rangers news, Ibrox View: Stats surely show Rangers must avoid summer swoop for Mamadou Fofana.
