Ibrox Exclusive: Bruce urges Jordan Rossiter to ‘remain positive’ after Rangers exit announced
We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…
Alex Bruce has urged Jordan Rossiter to “remain positive” after it was announced that the midfielder will leave Rangers this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender bemoaned the 23-year-old’s poor run of luck with regards to his fitness, and suggested that he can still forge a good career for himself somewhere.
Rossiter has spent this season on loan at Fleetwood Town, but has missed a large chunk of action after picking up a knee injury towards the end of last year.
It has since been announced that the player will be one of a number of first team talents who will not sign new deals at Ibrox this summer, but Bruce believes he still has reason to be optimistic.
Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “It’s difficult for the lad, really tough.
“There’s nothing worse than when you see a young player trying to make his way in the game and he’s picking injures. I’ve really felt for him.
“But he’s got to try and remain positive. Look at Steven Gerrard, he had problems with injuries when he first came through and broke into the Liverpool team.
“He’s just got to ride it out, and hopefully his body can repair itself and can get himself in a decent state to have a good career because he’s a decent player, the lad.”
Rossiter signed for the Gers from Liverpool in 2016, but has struggled to make an impact in Glasgow, registering just 16 first team appearances.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Bury, but could be offered a permanent deal by Fleetwood this summer, according to the Daily Record (14.14).
