Agent claims Rangers are interested in Metz defender Mamadou Fofana
Rangers are monitoring Metz defender Mamadou Fofana, according to the player’s agent.
The 22-year-old has two years left on his contract in France, but it is understood that he could be available for a transfer this summer.
Any deal would likely cost around £2.5 million, and it is understood that there are a number of clubs keeping tabs on the Mali international.
But his representative, Seku Traore, has been quick to include Ibrox on the list of his potential destinations.
As quoted by the Scottish Sun, he said: “Rangers are looking at Mamadou, but they are not alone.
“There are clubs in Russia interested, including Krasnodar, Dynamo Moscow and Lokomotiv Moscow.
“We will decide this summer what is the best option for him.”
Are the Gers likely to sign Fofana this summer?
The fact that his agent has chosen to speak out like this would certainly suggest that a move could be on the cards.
Fofana himself has been ambiguous enough about his summer plans to hint that he may be on the move in the coming months too.
Speaking last month, he said: “I’m not going to say when I want to leave Ligue 1.
“I still have two years on the contract and I like the city and the club.
“But I have ambitions to reach the top of the game. I think anything is possible for me.”
