Chris Sutton shares what lawyer friend has told him about Rangers dossier

Chris Sutton has declared the Rangers dossier a “deflection” shield to mask the team’s woes on the pitch this season.

He added that a lawyer friend had told him that it “looked as though it had been drawn up by a first-year trainee at a big firm”.

His ‘lawyer friend’ also said it was “Piffle, embarrassing, misguided, unnecessary and irrelevant” and Sutton went on to say “there’s no point in wasting any more time on this document as enough of people’s time has been wasted on it.”

He did admit that there were a couple of things in the document that the SPFL would rather not have got out, but he wasn’t in a Rangers-centric mood in his column in the Daily Record.

Sutton also talked about how Rangers constantly blame others rather than focussing on where things are actually going wrong – on the pitch.

We’ll concede that Rangers have been disappointing since the winter break, but is it any wonder the club and fans think they get an unfair rap when articles like this come out?

Sutton could focus on the positives and say that Gerrard has done a good job of narrowing the gap despite the money Celtic have been handed from the Champions League.

The Premiership was looking very competitive at Christmas and Rangers absolutely dominated two Old Firm games, winning one of them.

If there are a couple of things in the dossier that the SPFL wouldn’t want to get out then surely it’s good that these are now in the public domain?

When you start from such a negative viewpoint it’s always going to lead you down the same track and Sutton is blinkered.

He knows what makes a good column in Scotland. One that gets the Celtic fans crowing and the Rangers fans raging.

He’s making good money from it. But it seems rich to be criticising Rangers while constantly stirring the pot and hitting down all in the name of ‘what’s good for the game’.
