Report – Rangers make major decision in SPFL dossier claim
Rangers are set to release their dossier of evidence against the SPFL in the next 72 hours, according to the Scottish Sun.
It is understood that the Gers will hand over the information they have gathered on the governing body to all 42 member clubs as they seek to secure a vote on whether or not an independent investigation is carried out.
Ibrox chiefs have been embroiled in a war of words with authorities ever since the controversial ballot on how and when the Scottish football season should be brought to an end back in April.
A previous inquiry into the process behind that vote was carried out by auditors Deloitte and found no evidence of malpractice – but the Gers despite the scope of that investigation and are demanding a more thorough examination.
The club are said to be confident that they have a strong case for the SPFL to answer, and are backed by Hearts and Stranraer in their crusade.
An EGM is scheduled for mid-May, with the prospect of a second ballot set to dominate the agenda, and it is understood that the Gers are willing to make their dossier public to allow clubs time to deliberate before voting on the matter.
What can we take from this?
For a lot of people, this announcement can’t have come soon enough.
The truth is that it shouldn’t matter whether or not Rangers present their dossier, given how clearly shambolic the voting process was, but if that’s what it take to convince other clubs that there is a case to answer, then so be it.
Now it really is a case of waiting to see what information the Gers have on the SPFL.
You would assume that it must be something fairly major, given how strong the allegations against the governing body are, and hopefully there is enough substance to ensure that an independent investigation is carried out, despite Murdoch MacLennan’s claims that the Gers have acted unnecessarily and inappropriately.
