‘What the hell is going on?’ – Ibrox Exclusive: Bruce fumes after latest Rangers SPFL update
We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…
Alex Bruce has claimed that the ongoing battle between Rangers and the SPFL is a “slur on Scottish football”.
Speaking to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender argued that the whole debacle has been an “absolute shambles”, and needed to be put to bed as quickly as possible.
As reported by the Daily Record, Premiership clubs were set to hold an emergency summit on Friday afternoon to discuss the dispute between the Gers and the governing body, with many expected to call for the club to release the dossier of evidence they claim to have amassed against the authority.
And Bruce is eager to see a resolution to the situation in the near future.
Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “Ultimately, this is a slur on Scottish football.
“They want to sort it out and put it to bed as quick as possible because from the outside looking in it’s an absolute shambles. What the hell is going on up there?
“The sooner that everybody gets back on the same page and moving in the right direction, the better. With everything that’s gone on with Coronavirus and everything else, the last thing you want is all of this lingering in the background as well.
“It’s difficult enough times, to have this added pressure and added drama is something that nobody needs.”
The Gers have been embroiled in a bitter war of words with the SPFL in recent weeks, with chairman Murdoch MacLennan labelling the club’s demand for an independent inquiry “unnecessary and inappropriate”.
Ex-Ibrox hero Barry Ferguson has also echoed Bruce’s call for a solution to the crisis, urging his former club to hand over any evidence they may be sitting on.
