Report – West Ham plot summer raid for Rangers 22y/o

West Ham are interested in signing Rangers goalkeeper Robby McCrorie, according the Daily Record

The 22-year-old has spent this season out on loan, initially at Queen of the South, before making the step up to the Scottish Premiership with Livingston.

And it is understood that his performances have caught the eye of Hammers boss David Moyes, who could be tempted into making a move for the stopper this summer.

The youngster has two years left on his contract at Ibrox, with the Gers reportedly eager to tie him down to a long term deal and talks said to be underway already.

However, interest from the Premier League could prove to be a substantial hurdle for Steven Gerrard’s men to overcome, with a number of sides from the English top flight monitoring his progress, as well as several from across Europe.

Would losing McCrorie be a blow for Rangers?

Absolutely, yes.

The 22-year-old is already showing the kind of form that would suggest he has what it takes to become a long term solution for the Gers once Allan McGregor eventually hangs up his gloves.

The fact that he was given the opportunity to make the step up to the Premiership this January shows just how well he is progressing, and seven clean sheets in 32 appearances for sides who aren’t exactly flying is a pretty decent record.

The youngster has already been described as “superb” by current boss Gary Holt, while Gerrard has alluded to the fact that he considers him as the natural successor to McGregor’s number one shirt.

Losing him now, before he has been given a chance to realise that potential at Ibrox, would be a real disappointment.
