‘What’s happened?’ – Chris Sutton aims Twitter jibe at Rangers after SPFL update
Chris Sutton has taken to Twitter to aim a jibe at Rangers over their handling of the fiasco surrounding the SPFL’s vote on ending the Scottish football season early.
The Gers were one of the most outspoken critics of the governing body’s calamitous ballot process, which saw Dundee cast their vote later than every other member club, before eventually agreeing to support the tabled motion.
Since then, an investigation has found no evidence of anything “improper” in Dundee’s voting behaviour, although it is understood that the Gers will still push for an investigation of the whole process, not just the Championship side’s role in it.
It is also understood that Rangers claim to have a dossier of evidence to support their case, but are unwilling to hand anything over until a commitment is made to launching a full investigation, according to the Athletic.
But Sutton has questioned the wisdom of that stance.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, he said: “What’s happened to the dossier on the SPFL?”.
Does Sutton have a point here?
As per usual, it feels as if the ex-Parkhead man is making noise for the sake of it here.
Regardless of if Rangers have a dossier of information or not, it’s all but impossible to look at the way the SPFL have handled this entire debacle and view it as anything but shambolic.
In the interests of maintaining the integrity of the Scottish game, and tying to salvage some kind of faith in the people running it, an investigation seems like a fairly smart, rational thing to ask for.
That being said, if one is not forthcoming, surely there is no harm in sharing at least some of the evidence we have at out disposal in an attempt to force the SPFL’s hand a little.
