Ianis Hagi issues major Rangers update amid speculation over Ibrox future

Ianis Hagi has claimed that he is “feeling really happy” at Rangers amid ongoing uncertainty over his future at Ibrox.

The Romanian playmaker joined the Gers on loan from Genk, but has been limited to just 10 first team appearances due to the suspension in action because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

A report from Goal claimed earlier this week that Steven Gerrard’s men are close to wrapping up a permanent deal for the 21-year-old, but as yet, no official announcement has been made.

But Hagi himself seems keen on the prospect of a deal being completed.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: “I was feeling really good at Rangers.

“Happy. It’s really important for a football player to be happy – and I can see I was happy there. Playing at Ibrox provides a player with unique moments.

“Everybody could see that I was happy on the pitch. And obviously my football was getting better and better every day. Life in Glasgow was good too.

“So the only thing I can say right now is that I’m really happy with Rangers. I’m really happy with what happened in two months in Scotland.”

Should Rangers wrap up a deal for Hagi?

It feels like a no-brainer, doesn’t it?

Every piece of evidence and logic dictates that he would be a smart purchase, especially if the fee is around the £4.5 million we are led to believe his option-to-buy clause is worth.

Alex Bruce has previously told Ibrox News that Hagi is a “gem”, while Kris Boyd has also made it very clear that he believes that youngster is a cut above the usual kind of player the Gers can attract to Glasgow.

Factor in claims that both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have enquired after his availability, and it’s clear that Rangers could have something special on their hands here.

They must snap him up, surely.
