Rangers progressing with paperwork to sign loan star on permanent deal – report

Rangers are close to signing Ianis Hagi on a permanent basis from Genk due to an option-to-buy clause in the Romanian’s loan deal, according to Goal.

Hagi, 21, joined the Gers on loan from Genk in the January transfer window with the Scottish giants having the option to buy the attacker outright for £4.5million in the summer.

Goal claims that Rangers have used the coronavirus-enforced suspension of football to progress the paperwork in the deal to sign Hagi, who has impressed Steven Gerrard since swapping Belgium for Scotland in the winter.

Hagi has only made 10 appearances since his January switch but has managed to score three goals and supply two assists.

The Romania international’s impressive form at Ibrox has led to Real Madrid and Lazio being linked with signing him but it seems as though Rangers are at the front of the queue to secure his signature as soon as the next transfer window opens.

We haven’t seen a whole lot of Hagi just yet with the coronavirus crisis bringing football across Europe to a halt last month but the Light Blues must be certain of his potential as that £4.5million fee would be one of the biggest in the club’s history.

In other Rangers news, an ex-Premier League striker has urged this player to quit Ibrox.
