‘Incredible’ – Ryan Jack higlights Rangers moment this season that was ‘unbelievable’

Things haven’t been going well for Rangers since the winter break but Ryan Jack has said their Europa League run has been ‘fantastic’ and highlighted Alfredo Morelos’ goal against Porto as ‘unbelievable’.

Rangers boasted an impressive run of 17 home games undefeated in Europe before they lost 3-1 to Bayer Leverkusen in the first leg of the last 16 Europa League tie this season.

The Europa could be set to re-start in August with Rangers having it all to do to progress.

However, talking in the Scottish Sun, Jack said that what his side had achieved over the past couple of seasons was something special.

“The Europa League has been fantastic for us over the last two years,” Jack said.

“Every round is a different challenge and when you reach the later stages of qualifying and group stages, you are coming up against quality opposition in every game.

“Braga, Porto, Feyenoord are all very good sides, but these experiences against them can only help you as a player.

“The way we dominated the ball on the European stage this season was really pleasing.

“The game against Porto at home was a night I won’t forget. When Alfredo Morelos scored the first goal, it was incredible.

“That is what you play the game for, those types of nights. There was a full house at Ibrox and we managed to beat a team like Porto at home. It was unbelievable.”

It could end up being the only competitive football that Rangers get to play this season if the Premiership goes the way of the Championship and below.

They’ve all been decided on a points-per-game basis after the SPFL resolution was finally passed last week.

It’s hard to see a timetable where both Premiership and Europa matches get played, although we appreciate Rangers have a mountain to climb to get past Bayer Leverkusen.

Stranger things have happened though and football is going to be very different when action gets underway again.

Playing behind closed doors could be a real leveller and it’s still possible that Rangers can progress and keep Jack’s Europa dream alive.
