Ibrox View: Ally McCoist is bang on, something ‘absolutely stinks’ at Rangers right now
RANGERS OPINION
Just when you thought things couldn’t get any more confusing for Rangers right now, the SPFL have stepped up to the plate and smashed things out of the park with a humdinger of a mistake.
Chaos has been the order of the day over the weekend after Friday’s botched attempt at finding a resolution to the season amid the ongoing Coronavirus crisis.
The governing body conducted a vote with view to ending things as they stand in an attempt to release much-needed funds to struggling clubs.
The motion needed 75% of sides from each division to approve for it to pass, but Dundee have yet to formally cast their ballot, despite the SPFL reportedly receiving a voting slip from the club.
The governing body still released the result of the votes they had already received, however, meaning that the Championship outfit essentially have a deciding vote on the outcome of the campaign – and full knowledge of just how pivotal their decision will be.
Naturally, there has been uproar, and nobody has been as incensed by the ongoing drama as Rangers hero Ally McCoist.
Speaking to talkSPORT, as per the Scottish Sun, he said: “It’s a shambles and an embarrassment. Only in Scottish football. The SPFL are the cartoon network – they’re the gift that keeps on giving.
“For some reason, the SPFL thought it was a great idea to release the result of the vote before all the votes were in.
“All of a sudden Dundee said they sent their vote but, strangely, the SPFL said they didn’t receive it, then say they received it later on. At best, the whole thing absolutely stinks.

It’s little wonder, then, that Rangers have called for an independent investigation into the ballot.
How the SPFL have managed to get this so, so wrong almost defies logic, and yet here we are.
It’s too late to close the gate now, the horses have already bolted.
Another vote would be pointless because we already know the voting intentions of every club except Dundee, and yet to have the entire fate of the Scottish game rest with one side is shockingly unfair too.
This is a disaster, and one that quite easily could have been avoided had those in charge shown even the slightest bit of competence.
