‘I have to admire his bravery’ – Davie Provan raves about Rangers forward Morelos

Davie Provan has praised Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos for handing out food parcels in his impoverished home town of Cerete in Colombia.

Morelos has often grabbed the headlines for the wrong reasons since joining the Light Blues in 2017 but there is no denying that he has done something incredible for the people of Colombia.

The former HJK striker has also pledged £75,000 towards helping underprivileged Colombians during the coronavirus crisis.

Rangers fans are often hoping that Morelos only grabs attention for scoring goals for the club but it is great to see such heartwarming stories about him lately.

Provan admits that he has often criticised the Colombian but cannot fault his actions in South America at this time of crisis.

“While Alfredo Morelos’ early-season goals had Rangers title challengers, his indiscipline blew the club’s chances,” Provan wrote on the Scottish Sun website.

“But having torched Morelos for his petulance on the pitch I have to admire his bravery during this pandemic.

“Having pledged 75k to help Colombia’s Covid-19 fight, Morelos is distributing food parcels in his poverty stricken hometown of Cerete.

“Wealthy players writing out cheques is one thing, putting yourself at risk on the front line is another altogether.”

We hope to see more footballers doing what Morelos has done but we understand that many will want to stay in the safety of their own houses to avoid catching the illness.

Morelos has put himself at risk with his charitable actions and we hope that he is doing well at this time.

Still, it is great to see him doing his best to help those in need.
