Ibrox Exclusive: Bruce claims Rangers have unearthed ‘gem’ after latest transfer report

We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…

Alex Bruce has claimed that Rangers have unearthed a “gem” with their loan deal for playmaker Ianis Hagi.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender suggested that the 21-year-old has all the attributes needed to be a huge success story for the Gers.

Spanish outlet Don Balon reported earlier in the week that European supergiants Real Madrid are keeping tabs on the Romanian with view to stealing him away from Ibrox in the summer.

Steven Gerrard’s men have an option-to-buy written into his contract, but it is understood that Real would be willing to offer around double the £4.5 million needed to make his move from Genk a permanent one.

And Bruce believes that the report highlights just how well the Gers’ recruitment team have done with his capture.

Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “They’ve done a brilliant job.

“He’s got good attributes, he can create a goal, he can score a goal, we’ll just have to see what happens over the summer.

“But yeah, a really good bit of recruitment, he’s somebody who has done very well.

“It’s the modern way in terms of trying to find a gem and sell him on, so it could potentially be a good bit of business all round.”

Hagi has been a standout performer since arriving at Ibrox in January, registering three goals and two assists in 10 outings for the Gers.

It is understood he is attracting attention from a number of clubs, with Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport claiming that Serie A side Lazio are also keen on luring him away from Glasgow.
