Ibrox Exclusive: Alex Bruce urges Rangers to swoop for ‘gem’ after latest manager update

We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…

Alex Bruce has claimed that Rangers could land a “gem” if they make a move for Gillingham centre-back Jack Tucker.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender suggested that there is “no harm” in making a move for the 20-year-old starlet this summer.

Tucker’s current boss, Steve Evans, revealed earlier in the week that both the Gers and bitter rivals Celtic are keeping tabs on the player, as well as claiming that he has “everything” needed to become a success north of the border.

And Bruce is inclined to agree with him.

Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “There’s no harm in signing gems from the lower leagues.

“We’ve seen it many times over the years. There’s nothing better than when you see someone step up and pass the test, so they’ll be hoping they can get someone in who can grab the opportunity with both hands because that’s what football is all about.

“It’d be great to see.”

Tucker has been instrumental for Gillingham this season, making 33 appearances across all competitions for the English League One outfit.

The youngster came through the ranks at the Priestfield Stadium, making his league debut back in 2017, and is capable of playing at right-back and well as in the heart of defence.
