‘Unbelievable’ – Ibrox Exclusive: Alex Bruce reacts as Chris Sutton ‘twists the knife’ on Rangers

We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…

Alex Bruce has claimed that he is sure Rangers will be doing every they can to limit the financial impact of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender suggested that the Gers are facing a stern test over the coming weeks, but that the those at the helm will be fully aware of what needs to be done.

A recent Daily Record column from pundit Chris Sutton suggested that the Light Blues must consider cutting wages in an effort to avoid a financial “meltdown” similar to the one suffered in the aftermath of the club going into administration in 2012.

But Bruce believes that the club will be doing everything in their power to minimise the effects of the crisis.

Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “It will affect every club in the country.

“What’s happening is absolutely unbelievable. Day to day stuff, local businesses are being hit, and football clubs are not immune from all of this.

“They’re going to have to find a way to get through this crisis, and Rangers are no different.

“Sutton might look to stick the knife in because of his Celtic ties, but I’m sure Rangers will be doing what’s necessary.”

A number of Scottish clubs, including Celtic, have taken the decision to place staff on furlough in an attempt to cut their running costs during the pandemic.

As yet, there has been no official indication from Rangers on if they intend to follow suit.
