Ibrox View: Gerrard could land Rangers masterstroke with loan swoop for Anfield ‘next big thing’
RANGERS OPINION
For many, no matter what else he does in the professional game, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard will always be intrinsically linked with Liverpool.
The Anfield legend is arguably one of the Reds’ greatest players of all time, and his unerring loyalty throughout his playing career will mean that he is forever remembered for his exploits on Merseyside.
And even now that he has stepped away from the English game and taken the helm at Ibrox, he cannot escape his obvious connections with the Kopites.
Already we have seen him bring in Ryan Kent and Sheyi Ojo on loan, and according to the Daily Record, he might not be finished yet.
The national outlet name five young Liverpool talents the boss could turn to in the summer transfer window, and one that jumps out the most is probably that of 16-year-old Harvey Elliott.
The ex-Fulham prodigy has made quite the impact at Anfield this season, and already has seven senior appearances to his name for the Premier League leaders.
But would he be a good signing for the Gers?
The Record admit that it could be a difficult deal to pull off, but if Gerrard could coax Elliott to Scotland, his potential is huge.
With a pass completion rate of 81.7%, as well as a dribble success rate of 63%, and a cross accuracy rate of 30.4%, as per Wyscout, he is already outperforming Ibrox star Ianis Hagi in all three of those areas.
If he could add a little more end product to his game, he could really make good on his promise of becoming the “next big thing” in British football.
