Ibrox View: Colossal performance from reported Rangers target shows he could be perfect signing
RANGERS OPINION
Rangers could do a lot worse than looking for good, young talent in the transfer window this summer.
Generally speaking, the sooner you can unearth a player, the cheaper he will be, and the higher his potential resale value will be.
And that could be the case with Gillingham centre-back Jack Tucker.
His current boss, Steve Evans, has claimed that he would be surprised if the Gers weren’t watching the 20-year-old, sparking speculation that there could be a transfer on the horizon.
And it’s not hard to see why the Light Blues could be interested.
So far this season, he has won 7.61 defensive duels per game this season, as per Wyscout, as well as making 5.71 interceptions, winning 4.75 aerial duels, and recovering the ball 15 times.
A closer look at his gameplay shows just how promising he is too.
In the image above, for example, his reading of the game is superb.
Coming from deeper than his striker, he manages to use his pace and physicality to nip in front of the opposition, and quell the danger.
That kind of instinct is hard to teach, and bodes well for his progression at the top level.
Tucker is equally handy in the air too.
In the image above, for example, he has risen high above his defender to win his header, once again showing his physical prowess, and he was unfortunate not to score a fine header from point blank range.
All in all, the defender looks like a well-rounded, exciting talent, and one that should only grow as time progresses.
If we could wrap up a deal for him, what a piece of business it could prove to be.
