‘Job well done’ – Ibrox Exclusive: Bruce hails Rangers man after exit update
We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…
Alex Bruce has hailed Dave King for the job he has done at Rangers after the businessman stepped down from his role as chairman at Ibrox last week.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender suggested that the 64-year-old has left the club in a promising position for somebody else to come in and continue his fine work.
King initially announced his decision to step aside at the Gers’ AGM last November, and has been replaced on an interim basis by former deputy Douglas Park.
And Bruce is optimistic about what King’s legacy could mean for the Gers going forward.
Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “He’s done well, he’s done everything that’s been asked of him, to get Rangers back into the top flight, like we all thought he would do.
“He’s leaving them in the top two of the Premiership, where he set out to get them five years ago when he became chairman of the club.
“Job well done, and he obviously feels it’s time to move aside for now and let somebody else take over the reigns.
“You never know, it could be exciting times for whoever takes over.”
King did admit to almost having a change of heart over his decision due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, but ultimately chose to follow through on his long-standing commitment to step down.
It is understood that he has no intention of selling his shares at Ibrox, however.
