‘I’m sure’ – Ibrox Exclusive: Alex Bruce reacts to £15m Rangers transfer report

We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…

Alex Bruce has claimed that Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos will cost a lot more than £10-15 million if he does leave the club this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender suggested that Steven Gerrard would demand a high price for the Colombian to ensure that he had enough in the kitty to find a suitable replacement.

According to Spanish outlet AS Diario, Atletico Madrid are set to offer around £10-15 million for the 23-year-old in an effort to solve their own striking issues.

But Bruce believes that it will take a more handsome fee than that to convince the Gers to part company with the hitman.

Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “When clubs don’t want to sell their assets, the price has to be right.

“If they do put a bid of £10-15 million in for Steven Gerrard’s best player, how’s Steven Gerrard going to be able to replace him, especially in today’s market when you look at what people are paying for certain individuals?

“If he was going to go to Atletico Madrid, I’m sure it’d be for more than that amount because they need to replace him.”

Morelos has hit 29 goals in all competitions so far this season, but has struggled for form since the winter break, striking just once in a Scottish Cup tie against Hamilton.

His last league goal came in the Boxing Day win over Kilmarnock.
