Report – Italian giants plot summer raid for Rangers talent facing uncertain future

Lazio are still interested in signing Rangers loanee Ianis Hagi this summer, despite claims that he is keen to stay in Glasgow, according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport

A report from the continent suggests that the Serie A title contenders are eager to snap up the 21-year-old, despite the fact the the Gers have an exclusive option-to-buy clause in his loan deal at Ibrox.

Corriere claim that the possibility of Rangers activating that clause, believed to be worth around £4.5 million, is now in doubt, and that could open the door for Lazio to make their move.

The report comes just days after the Romanian reportedly reasserted his desire to stay in Glasgow beyond the end of his current stint, as per the Herald.

That response came in the aftermath of initial whispers linking him a move to the Italian capital, but it would appear that the speculation surrounding a potential exit refuses to die down.

What does this mean for Rangers?

On the face of it, it would appear that Lazio are not giving up on Hagi without a fight.

The Romanian has impressed since arriving at Ibrox, and it should be a source of comfort that he has reportedly expressed his desire to stay with us on a permanent basis.

These rumours of Italian interest will not die down though, and when a story is as persistent as this one, you can’t help wondering if there is some truth in it.

Things are made even less clear by a report from Football Insider suggesting that the Gers are undecided on whether or not to make a permanent move for Hagi, and at this stage, you can understand why Lazio still believe they have a chance on getting him.

Ultimately though, he is Rangers’ to lose, and with that option-to-buy clause, you would assume that the only way he is going anywhere is if the Gers don’t want him anymore.
