Ibrox Exclusive: Alex Bruce reacts to major Rangers investment update
We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…
Alex Bruce has claimed that Rangers would welcome any cash injection from potential investor Stuart Gibson.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender suggested that a financial boost from the lifelong Gers fan could be a vital factor in helping the club “bridge the gap” between themselves and Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
The Daily Record reported last week that the property mogul is on the cusp of putting an extra £20 million into the Glaswegian giants, but has no intention of bidding for a majority stake in the club.
And Bruce believes that the move could be hugely positive for the Gers, should it come to fruition.
Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “There’s always been rumours that the finances are still not the best, but obviously any injection of funds to any club is going to be beneficial.
“That’s especially true in Scotland where the level of money the teams and the players make isn’t the same as the English Premier League.
“Any influence or any incoming cash will sure as hell boost Rangers to go and try and bridge that gap between themselves and Celtic.”
Gibson is a die hard Rangers fan, but is currently based in the Middle East, where he has amassed a considerable personal wealth through real estate dealings.
While he is yet to make an official statement on his reported interest in the club, a source close to the businessman has confirmed that he is keen to support the Gers financially.
