‘See you later, pal’ – Alan Brazil brands Ally McCoist ‘numpty’ after latest Rangers claim
Alan Brazil has savaged former Rangers manager Ally McCoist for his old club’s lack of silverware under Steven Gerrard.
The pair engaged in a game of word association live on talkSPORT this morning, and focus soon turned to the Gers manager’s barren spell in Glasgow.
Joined by former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara, the exchange began when he used his turn to name Gerrard.
Brazil then mentioned Rangers, to which McCoist reacted with the word “trophies”.
In response, Brazil said: “Trophies? You haven’t got any this year you numpty!
“Ally, on your way home just pop by Ibrox and look for any recent trophies.
“Uh-uh, see you later pal!”
Does Brazil have the right to rinse McCoist here?
Perhaps Alan should remember who the most successful side in Scotland are.
Sure, we’ve had some tough times of late, but Celtic wouldn’t have won half as much if they hadn’t had a free run at the Scottish Premiership title for the best part of a decade.
The reality is that the Hoops are flat track bullies, and with every passing season, their grip at the top loosens just a little bit more.
We saw it in the first half of this campaign, with the Gers going into the winter break holding the advantage over the Hoops, and were it not for a dreadful collapse after Christmas, things could have been very different this time around.
As for Gerrard, he may not have won anything, but there’s no denying that he is taking the club in the right direction.
With a points per game of 2.03, a clear increase on the 1.9 recorded by Graeme Murty, there is clear progress being made, even if it’s not as quick as some fans would like.
