‘Inevitable’ – Ibrox Exclusive: Alex Bruce issues verdict on Rangers title hopes amid pandemic
We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…
Alex Bruce has insisted that the rest of the Scottish Premiership season must be completed to give Rangers a chance to catch Celtic in the title race.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender suggested that the chances of the Gers overturning the 13 point gap at the top of the table were slim at best, but claimed that it is only fair that they are given their opportunity to try.
All football in Scotland is currently postponed due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
But Bruce believes that any remaining games from this campaign must be completed before next season begins.
When asked if resuming the campaign at a safe time in the future was the right thing to do during an interview with Ibrox News, he said: “I think so, I think it’s only fair to give them all a chance.
“I think it will be more interesting to see what goes on at the bottom of the league because I do think it’s inevitable that Celtic will win the league.
“But for others, there are big, big games to play.
“It will be interesting to see how it pans out.”
Rangers released an official statement earlier in the week suggesting that it was their hope that all remaining games this season could be played at some point.
Celtic then followed suit with a similar announcement on Thursday.
