Report – Rangers 28y/o could have played last game for club
Andy Halliday could have played his last match for Rangers, according to The Scottish Sun.
The versatile Ibrox star has struggled for game time this season, being limited to just 12 appearances in all competitions.
And with mounting uncertainty over whether or not the remainder of the Scottish Premiership season will be completed amid the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, there are concerns that the 28-year-old may have pulled on a Light Blue shirt for the last time already.
The report states that Halliday could be deemed surplus to requirements by Gerrard in the near future, despite the player’s commitment to the cause at Ibrox.
The Sun also claim that Wes Foderingham, Sheyi Ojo, Florian Kamberi, Ianis Hagi, and Jon Flanagan may also never play for Rangers again for a variety of reasons, although it is suggested that Kamberi and Hagi may have done enough to convince the Gers to pursue permanent deals for them.
Could Halliday leave Rangers?
It’s not entirely out of the question, that much is for sure.
The 28-year-old has barely played this season, and has only really been called upon in times of injury.
That being said, whenever he has been drafted in, Halliday has impressed for the most part.
So far this season he has averaged a pass completion rate of 84.4%, a dribble success rate of 78.9%, and 4.38 interceptions per match, as per Wyscout.
As a point of reference, Borna Barisic, who Halliday usually deputises for at left-back, has a pass completion rate of 78.9%, a dribble completion rate of 61.9%, and has made 3.57 interceptions per match, as per Wyscout.
On the basis of those numbers, you could definitely argue that Halliday is more than deserving of a spot in Gerrard’s squad.
