Report – Major Rangers buyout claim detailed by inside source

Stuart Gibson will not seek to buyout Rangers chairman Dave King should he provide a cash injection for the Ibrox club, according to the Daily Record.

The Record reported on Tuesday that the Asia-based property tycoon had flown to Glasgow to discuss terms of a £20 million financial boost to the Gers.

But it is understood that the mogul has no desire to take the current chairman’s shareholding.

As quoted by the Record, a source close to Gibson said: “Stuart thinks it’s still a bit premature to make any official statement.

“He’s considering investing in the club but he has not been in talks regarding taking over the club from Dave King. He’s just a well-meaning fan trying to support the club.

“In the meantime, Stuart will continue to focus on his business in Asia.”

What could this mean for Rangers?

An injection of cash never comes in wrong at a football club, and the Gers certainly wouldn’t say no to an extra £20 million in the kitty, especially as they look to have fallen short in their efforts to prevent Celtic winning the league title once again.

Moreover, Gibson appears to be nothing more than a philanthropic fan with a genuine love for the club, based on the comments of the Record’s source.

Hopefully, you would like to think that means that he he has the best interests of the club at heart, and that he won’t try to rock the boat too much.

If this is just an extra financial boost, and not a ploy to get hold of King’s 26% stake in the club, then it’s hard to see how this could be anything other than a positive thing.
